Hello everyone and welcome to Loutritious!
I’m Louise; a 22 year old health, nutrition, food and fitness fanatic from South Wales, UK. I am studying Nutrition (BSc) at the University of Surrey and currently on my placement year working as a Sports Nutrition Intern at Surrey Human Performance Institute! I am a lover of coffee, baking, good food and lifting heavy things in the gym!
The aim of my blog is to show you the many amazing components of nutrition. Food affects so much more than just weight and body composition – it has a massive impact on our overall health and has a massive part to play in the prevention and treatment of disease, sports performance, and our mindset, keeping us healthy both physically and mentally.
I’m all about a non-diet approach to nutrition. So many people spend their lives counting calories, jumping from one diet to the next (the irony being that 95% of diets don’t work). As a result, our relationship with food has become compromised and our mental and physical health is suffering. Instead, I like to focus on intuitive eating – by getting back in touch with our innate ability to eat according to our body’s signals, without labeling food as ‘good’ or ‘bad’ and without guilt or regret, we can and must abolish diet culture and instead fix our relationship with food.
I am by no means an expert, but with my growing passion for food and health, along with my university studies and experience working as a Sports Nutrition Intern, I am researching and learning more every day! I hope my blog can be a place that you learn a thing or two from but, most importantly, somewhere that you can take inspiration and guidance from to become your happiest and healthiest self, both inside and out.
